My involvement in Shehi Tribe extended beyond on set sound recording into shaping the film’s overall sonic identity. As a documentary centered on one of the oldest descendants of the UAE, the project carried cultural and historical weight, heightened by its intended theatrical premiere at Roxy Cinemas. Working closely with the director, I focused on when sound design should step forward and when it should recede, allowing diegetic elements to lead. This balance was most critical during the tribal chant sequence, where the mix was shaped to give the sound spatial presence and physical weight while respecting its cultural context. The film was mixed in 5.1 for theatrical exhibition, gained local festival recognition, and led to an award for Best Sound Design.
